Brewers-4 Astros-2

By: Cameron Klade

The Milwaukee Brewers have been hot. Last night was no different as the Brewers defeated the Houston Astros 4-2 in Houston. They now have won 21 of their last 26 games.

Although at the start of the game on Tuesday, fans may have wondered how long they can hold on to this streak. It was a rocky start to the game when Kaz Matsui hit a leadoff double. Then, Michael Bourne got a bunt single with still no outs. Dave Bush nearly picked him off and Bourne got into a pickle. As they were trying to get Bourne, Matsui scored and Bourne somehow got back safely to first. 1-0 Astros.

But that wouldn’t hold on for long. Bush would eventually settle in. He went 6 innings giving up two runs. JJ Hardy led the way with 2 RBI’s and Ryan Braun made a daredevil move running home against Hunter Pences’ amazing arm and slid in safely.

Trevor Hoffman finished the game for the Brew Crew getting save #10 on the year. Keep it up Hells Bells and we could see you in the All Star Game.

How long will this streak go for? Well we’ll let you answer that…

Lottery Tonight

By: Cameron Klade

Tonight is the night that could determine an NBA franchises’  future. The NBA Draft Lottery is tonight. With the Sacramento Kings as the favorite to get the coveted #1 pick, they are looking to lean away from their awful 17 and 65 record from the 2008-2009 season. For the second worst teams in the NBA, the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Clippers they are hoping for the best luck. The other teams that have a possibility for #1 pick are the  the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Golden State Warriors, the New York Knicks, the Toronto Raptors, the New Jersey Nets, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Indiana Pacers, and lastly, the Phoenix Suns.

The question is, will this years #1 be a boom or a bust. Past great picks at #1, have been names such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Lebron James, Dwight Howard, and Shaquille O’Neal. Busts have been Joe Barry Caroll and Pervis Ellison.

This year certainly does have a strong class. Blake Griffin of Oklahoma is expected to be #1. Others  like Stephen Curry and Hasheem Thabeet are in the hunt as well.

The Lottery starts at 7 Central Time tonight on ESPN.

Coming soon… 1st round draft predictions starting tomorrow.

Nuggets-Lakers Game 1 Preview

By Colin Ryan

“They had depth and toughness, it’s no suprise to me that they’re here”, said Kobe Bryant. On just one day of rest, the Lakers will host the Denver Nuggets tonight at the Staples Center. In Regular Season play, Los Angeles has won 3 out of 4 games against Denver, but the Nuggets have had an easier road throught the Western Conference playoffs so far. This will be the Nuggets’ first Conference Finals since 1985. The Franchise has never reached the NBA Finals. For the Lakers, this could be the second straight trip to the Finals, and in my mind, it will likely be against the Cavs. I’m sure most of the country would like to see Kobe vs. Lebron I. Kobe on one day of rest: “It’s no big deal”. Sure isn’t.

Colin Pick: Denver

Cameron Pick: Denver

Anthony Pick: Lakers

Great Day for the Brewers

By: Cameron Klade

The Milwaukee Brewers could not have had a better day in terms of the game they played against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers completed the three game sweep last night with an 8-4 victory. Mat Gamel hit a three run homerun for the Brewers midway through the game. It was his first career homerun. Gamel finished the night 1-3 with a walk. Another milestone was set last night but not by Mat Gamel, by the Brewers catcher Jason Kendall who got hit number 2,000 in his career. Kendall who is second among active catchers in hits, was sure to get the ball back to his teammates to hold on to him after he got his 2000th hit.

The Brewers didn’t just win with offense last night. Ryan Braun had one of the best defensive games of his career last night with 2 amazing diving catches. And Braden Looper put the icing on the cake last night with a  2 hitter going into the 7th inning to help his new team defeat his former team.

Not all was good last night however. The Brewers bad news was that they had lost their starting second baseman Rickie Weeks due to arpiscopic wrist surgery. “I love Rickie, and I told everybody that at the pregame,” manager Ken Macha said. “He’s a tremendous guy, but we need to go out and play, too.” They did noting but that with the 8-4 victory. How the Brewers will do without Weeks we will see.

Mayfield Suspended Indefinitely

By: Cameron Klade

Jeremy Mayfield has faced speculation more than the usual this week. Mayfield who has been racing since 1993 has been acused of using an abused substance. No one has said which substance he supposedly used yet. Reporters believe that whatever he was using was a sedative drug such as Methanphetimine(speed), cocaine, or marijuana. “In my case, I believe that the combination of a prescribed medicine and an over the counter medicine reacted together and resulted in a positive drug test,” Mayfield said in a statement. “My doctor and I are working with both Dr. (David) Black and NASCAR to resolve this matter.” Mayfield has now been suspended indefinitely and 3YoungFans will be sure to update anything on the latest news from this story.
